Unlock a second chance to make a sale!

Have you ever visited a website to look at a product and then seen an online advert for the same product you had been considering earlier that day? If so, you’ve been part of the remarketing cycle. So, what’s remarketing and what are the benefits of using it?

The WEBPRO team is complemented by experienced marketers who can help your business attract leads and even use remarketing to get cooling leads hot again. Speak with us now to learn how our services can supercharge your business sales.

What is remarketing?

Remarketing is when a marketer will direct digital advertisements – often social media ads – to people who have recently visited a website or specific website page but didn’t take further action.

For example, if you were looking to buy a coffee machine and didn’t make the purchase, the marketer could try to get your attention on the product again by exposing you to an advert for the exact coffee machine you were considering with the same business.

It’s called remarketing because it’s considered a second chance for the business to make a sale. However, some people only refer to it as remarketing when the second exposure occurs through email. These people then use “retargeting” to refer to using website cookies to expose the individual to a social media advert. Other people use both terms interchangeably.

How does remarketing work?

Remarketing works in a simple but clever way. When you set up a digital marketing strategy, you receive a small piece of code called a pixel tag. The pixel tag can be added to your website. It adds a cookie to a website visitor’s computer, which then adds them to the remarketing (or retargeting) list.

A remarketing list is a list of the internet users who visited your website. But they can be more in-depth than a single list. You can have a remarketing list for people that only looked at your homepage, and possibly a remarketing list for the people who looked at a certain product or service page.

Your digital advert will be shown to the people on a specific remarketing list whenever a chance arises, such as on another website or on social media. You can make bespoke adverts for the people on each remarketing list, ensuring the advert is tailored to the product or service they were considering rather than a generic ad.

The benefits of remarketing

There are several benefits of adding remarketing to your digital marketing strategy. It will enable you to:

  1. Get a second chance to convert leads
  2. Keep your product or service in the mind of leads
  3. Target ads to people who are more likely to buy or enquire
  4. It’s affordable and suitable across industries
  5. It’s personalised to different users through various remarketing lists

Even successful websites have a conversion rate of around 3% for first-time website visitors, meaning just three in every 100 people who visit a website for the first time are likely to make a purchase.

This highlights that website traffic isn’t always going to equal more sales. You need to do more to keep leads thinking about your products and services, which can be achieved through remarketing.

WEBPRO’s top tip for remarketing!

Remarketing is more effective when the advert offers something that wasn’t offered when the lead was contemplating your product or service. For example, you might offer some sort of discount or promotion like a free delivery code on the advert.

Many times, people are put off making the purchase the first time around due to the cost. They wonder if they can find a better deal elsewhere. If they subsequently see you’re offering a limited-time promotion, they’re more likely to come back and make the purchase.

Recap: Remarketing is a way to get leads looking at your products and services again by exposing them to an advert for the product or service they were already considering on your website. It’s an effective way to keep leads thinking about the product or service and can increase sales.

It’s most effective when the advert includes some type of promotion or discount, encouraging leads to make a quick decision to avoid missing the deal.  WEBPRO can assist in setting up a remarketing campaign for you.

P.S. Even if WEBPRO didn’t set up your current marketing campaigns, we can still set up remarketing for you!
