Eddy

Scott Jackson was introduced to us by another client. He originally wanted a space where he could host his podcasts for his not-for-profit organisation, Eddy. Eddy aims to help fathers through difficult times, like losing a child or parenting a child with learning difficulties or mental illness. When he came to us, he didn’t know that he needed a website in the traditional sense and certainly not to the extent that he ended up with.

"The website I never knew I needed"

The brief

For an organisation that is as special and inspiring as Eddy is, WEBPRO knew that not just any space would do. To reflect the bespoke cause of Eddy, the website needed to be of a bespoke design. It needed to be a space where Scott could not only host his podcasts, but a space where dads could come together to share their personal experiences. So, Eddy needed to be accessible to all to get the most benefit from it, with a variety of content mediums. Scott already had an idea of how he wanted the website to be laid out and his branding was already done so we had a slight head start when it came to the design of his new website.

Key requirements:

  • Space to host podcasts
  • Share sensitive stories in a meaningful way
  • Facility for the sharing of stories and experiences
  • Signposting area
The solution

With the brief agreed, WEBPRO got to work. We created a website that reflects the striking Eddy brand. There’s a place (more than one) for the podcasts which reinforces the purpose of the website but there’s also a space where these same stories are told using words and images. The stories shine outside of the podcasts and appeal to a wider audience who may not want to listen to a podcast.

The stories and podcasts can all be accessed through the home page in a variety of key positions using different designs to reinforce them, helping to serve, seal and spread the sense of community and support that Eddy embodies.

The calls to action (CTAs) on the home page also serve to foster the sense of community that is so important to Eddy, allowing visitors to sign up to their mailing list or asking dads to share their own experiences.

Some people won’t be comfortable or confident enough to share their own personal stories, but they still need support. That is why we created an all important Support page with a list of helplines and websites that offer support when needed.

Top features:

  • Key areas to share podcasts and stories
  • Use of imagery to make stories come alive
  • Clear CTAs to encourage dads to share their own stories
  • Additional resources for those that need it
The result

The finished website showcases the magical network of community and support that is Eddy. It's a place where dads can get the support they need when tough times come around. When it launched, the response was extremely positive and Scott himself is extremely happy with the end result. The website has become more than just the place to host podcast that was originally planned. Scott has now got plans for a second series of the podcast and wants to expand the website even further, providing further support to dads with a blog and other features.
