Our Google Ads webinar took place on the 15th of December with lots of eager participants wanting to know more about one of the most effective forms of online marketing. For those that missed out, we’ve put together a quick post here to outline the key takeaways of the webinar.

You can always get in touch with the WEBPRO team If you have a Google Ads question that isn’t answered below, or if you want to launch your own Google Ads campaign.

#1: Google Ads is…

… a paid type of online advertising whereby a link to your website or landing page is presented on Google results pages above the organic results. It was formerly known as AdWords and is a type of Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising.

When someone searches a relevant keyword or phrase on Google, your advert/link appears at the very top of the page among a limited number of other adverts. These pages have a higher chance of being clicked by potential customers than pages further down the page or links not located on Google’s first page.

Google Ads is the opposite of SEO whereby you get to the top of Google result pages without explicitly paying to be there. Although, as will be discussed later, you technically don’t pay to be in the Google Ads section at the top – more to follow!

#2: The cost of Google Ads

You don’t pay for your Google Ad to be placed at the top of a results page. Instead, you pay every time someone clicks on your ad. However, you have full control to set what you’re prepared to pay for each click and set a monthly budget to prevent you from overspending on the campaign. Some keyphrases have more competition than others, resulting in differences in how much you’ll need to be prepared to pay for a click.

On top of the cost of paying for each click, there might be other expenses you should consider. You may need to pay for adaptions to your website to link with your Google Ads, such as the implementation of landing pages. If you’re new to Google Ads, you’ll also need to pay for a professional to manage your campaign. WEBPRO can help with all aspects of your Google Ads so you get all you need under one roof.

#3: The benefits of Google Ads

Google Ads is an exceptional type of online marketing with multiple benefits, such as:

  1. Quick results and returns in comparison to SEO
  2. An average 8:1 ROI
  3. Enhanced and immediate visibility on relevant search terms
  4. You can target Google users based on demographics and even location
  5. The cost of your campaign is transparent and can be adapted efficiently
  6. You can even turn off your Google Ads if you’re getting overrun with new leads

That being said, Google Ads still needs to be done right, which involves research, sales-driven landing pages, industry knowledge and campaign tracking.

#4: Malicious clicking worries

When you’re paying for every click on your Google Ad, it’s natural to be a little concerned about malicious clicking. By this, we mean someone clicking on your Google Ad repeatedly to cause you to spend money without the potential for any returns. Some businesses worry that their competitors will use these tactics.

In the vast majority of cases this never happens. Google has put mechanisms in place to prevent malicious clicking. And in reality, your competitors are too busy worrying about their own marketing campaigns to be trying to sabotage yours. For more information on malicious clicking and prevention methods, speak with a WEBPRO team member

#5: Independent users miss 80% of its functionality

Some businesses recognise the benefits of Google Ads but have chosen to set up their account and launch campaigns independently. This is certainly possible, but independent users of Google Ads only exercise around 20% of the functionality available, whereas a Google Ads expert can tap into more of what Google Ads has to offer.

With a Google Ads account, you can also use Google Display, market through retargeting campaigns, sell products through Google Shopping, apply your ads to Google Maps and much more. The WEBPRO Google Ads experts make sure your business benefits from all of what Google Ads has to offer.
